　　One advantage of breeding African　bees with otherbee types (Africanization) may be resistance to theparasitic mite Varroa jacobsoni, a major threat tomodern beekeeping. In parts of Europe, this mite isdevastating honeybees and killing many coloniesdespite preventive measures by beekeepers.
