　　我国的专项考试目前仍采用纸笔形式，每年11月份举行。专项考试时间均为2小时50分钟,除了音乐考试约3小时。

　　GRE专项考试的计分方法与一般能力测试不同，专项考试答错题要倒扣分。但我们也不必因此而在没有把握的情况下不答题，根据以往的经验，你只要能排除一个答案就不要放弃它。

　　GRE专项考试因各学科的专业范围、试题数都不相同，所以没有统一的分数换算规则和标准,互相之间也没可比性。例如计算机专业考试可以考到99%，而经济学专业考试能考到90%就很好了。专项考试各学科的满分是990分，但生物学、工程学、法语、地质学、历史、音乐、心理学和西班牙语这8个学科还分别就这些学科的不同领域给出各自的小分，其目的是帮助美国大学更好地了解申请人在某一学科领域的能力情况。

　　某些大学和专业要求申请者一定要有GRE专项考试成绩，但不管要不要求，有条件的话一定要考一次GRE的Sub考试，一个良好的专项考试能增加你获奖的机率。现在大家所考的是Gerneral考试,Subject考试并不像大家想象得那么难，只要花半年时间看看中文版教材，考前多做几套SUB全真题，一般都会考一个不错的成绩。强调一点的是，准备SUB题一定要以全真题为主，事半功倍。

　　ETS会根据你的要求来决定是否在一般考试的成绩单上显示你的GRE专业成绩。你也可以在考试结束后要求ETS取消这次考试的成绩。

　　ETS推荐的专项考试准备技巧：1. A general review of your college courses is probably the best preparation for the test. However, the test covers a broad range of subject matter, and no one is expected to be familiar with every question.2. Use official GRE publications, published by ETS, to familiarize yourself with questions used on the GRE Subject Tests.3. Become familiar with the types of questions used in the test, paying special attention to the directions. If you thoroughly understand the directions before you take the test, you will have more time during the test to focus on the questions themselves.

　　ETS推荐的考试技巧：1. Read the test directions carefully, and work as rapidly as you can without being careless. For each question, you should choose the best answer from the available options.2. All questions are of equal value; do not waste time pondering individual questions you find extremely difficult or unfamiliar.3. You may want to work through the test quite rapidly, first answering only the questions about which you feel confident, then going back and answering questions that require more thought, and concluding with the most difficult questions if there is time.4. If you decide to change an answer, make sure you completely erase it and fill in the oval corresponding to your desired answer.5. Questions for which you mark no answer or more than one answer are not counted in scoring.6. As a correction for haphazard guessing, one-fourth of the number of questions you answer incorrectly are subtracted from the number of questions you answer correctly. It is improbable that mere guessing will improve your score significantly; it may even lower your score. If, however, you are not certain of the correct answer but have some knowledge of the question and are able to eliminate one or more of the answer choices, your chance of getting the right answer is improved, and it may be to your advantage to answer such a question.7. Record all answers on your answer sheet. Answers recorded in your test book will not be counted.8. Do not wait until the last five minutes of a testing session to record answers on your answer sheet.

　　数学(M67──Mathematics)约66题。试题主要是针对希望攻读数学专业研究生的考生，侧重于数学专业的知识和技巧。除了基本的微积分运算外，还包括线性代数、数学分析等，要求考生能够举一反三。大约有1/4的试题涉及到复变分析、拓扑学、数论等方面的知识。

　　生物(B24──Biology)约200题。总共分成三个部分:

　　1)细胞与分子生物学:a). Cellular Structure and Function: biological compounds, enzyme activity, metabolic pathways and regulation, membrane dynamics and cell surfaces, organelles,cell cycle, cytoskeleton, and motility;b). Genetics and Molecular Biology: genetic foundations, chromatin and chromosomal structure, genomic organization and maintenance, gene expression and regulation, immunobiology, viruses, and recombinant DNA methodology.

　　2)有机生物学:Animal and plant structure, function, and organization; reproduction, growth, and development; characteristics and phylogenetic relationships of organisms in the kingdoms Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia

　　3)人体生物学，包括生态学与进化论：a) Ecology: environment/organism interaction, behavioral ecology, population structure and function, communities, and ecosystemsb) Evolution: genetic variability; evolutionary processes, e.g., natural selection, genetic drift; evolutionary consequences, e.g., fitness and adaptation, speciation; history of life.

　　物理(P77──Physics)约100题，其内容主要涉及大学的物理课程。其中经典力学约占20%，电磁基础约占18%，原子物理约占10%，物理光学及波动现象约占9%，流体力学及统计力学约占10%，量子力学约占12%，狭义相对论约占6%，实验方法约占6%;其余9%主要涉及近代物理学的内容，包括有拉格朗日和哈密尔顿力学、原子和质子物理、低温物理及空间物理。

　　化学(C27──Chemistry)约136题，涉及大学化学课程的主要内容。其中，分析化学约占15%，无机化学约占25%，有机化学约占30%，物理化学约占30%。

　　音乐(M72──REVISED Music)约134题，分为111道选择题和23道问答题。第一部分包括50道选择题和15道问答题，其中选择题主要涉及中世纪到20世纪期间的音乐历史和理论,问答题主要问及基本音乐理论,其中有基本规则、和声、时位、节奏、形式、配器及管弦乐;第二部分包括61道选择题和8道问答题，选择题分为12组，每组侧重于中世纪到20世纪期间某一个音乐作品的分析和讲解，包括风格、构成和历史时期。问答题主要包括：one single-voice and one two-voice dictation, two harmonic dictations, two part-writing execises, and two counterpoint exercises.音乐考试的成绩分为三个小分。

　　计算机(C29──Computer Science)约70题，主要针对报考计算机专业研究生并具有大学电子工程专业或计算机专业知识的申请者。试题构成为：软件系统及方法约占35%，计算机与结构约占20%，计算机理论约占25%，计算数学约占15%;其他如人工智能、数学模型与模拟约占5%。

　　经济学(E31──Economics)共有130题，主要考察申请者理解基本经济分析理论的能力。其中，微观经济和宏观经济分析试题约占60%，5-10%的试题为统计基本知识，其余25-30%的试题包括经济学的其他领域，包括包括公共财政、金融、数量经济与国际贸易。

　　工程学(E37──Engineering)约有140题，其中105道题反映考生的工程小分，35道题反映考生的数学小分。考题涉及大学基础及专业基础课程，内容包括物理、化学、力学、液体力学、传热学、电子及电子线路、热力学、材料特性等。在个别试题中也会涉及到光学、声学、计算方法、工程经济、液压原理等。数学应用分为两类，一类试题是从研究数学模型到通过工程应用以完成操作;另一类试题是从研究直观数学概念，求出最佳方法，再应用到工程实践中去。

　　教育学(E34──Education)约有200题，分成以下五个部分: a)教育目标; b)学校管理及监督; c)课程安排; d)教学与学习; e)教育评估及研究。

　　地质学(G47──GeGeology)约185题，涵盖大学课程，60%的考题分布在地层学、沉积学、古生物学、地貌学和海洋学，其余考题包括general geology(8%),hydrogeology(10%),paleontology(8%),surficial processes / geomor -phology(6%),和geophysics(8%)。

　　英国文学(L64──Literature in English)约230题，作品全部选自英国、美国和其他国家，其内容集中在重大事件、社会活动、著名作家等方面。主要侧重于大学课程的知识，例如辨认作家、作品，概述并讨论历史事件，复述某篇名作的章节;还有一类试题侧重于学生阅读诗歌、戏剧、小说、散文的能力。后一类试题往往要求考生使用规定的结构、形式、文学技巧和风格进行作文。

　　政治学(P79──Political Science)约170题，可分以下五个部分: a)美国政治，约占30%;b)政治理论及政治思想史，约占20%;c)政治制度比较，约占20%;d)方法论，约占10%;e)国际关系，约占20%。

　　心理学(P81──Psychology)约215题，共分为三个部分: a)记忆、思维、知觉、人文学、比较心理学、生理学等，约占40%;b)个性、临诊、变态心理、心理发展和社会心理学等，约占43%; c)历史心理学与应用心理学、心理测量、心理统计，约占14%。该部分成绩不计入总分，只算小分。
